Final critique Tuesday 4th May

This semester has gone very quickly indeed - in a few days final work will be presented - hang on in there and do your very
best to focus on the final stages of this project. I wish you the best of luck and creative energy.

Thursday morning 29th April is set aside for last minute group tutorials 10-12.30 in the studio. It is also submission for the group project Modular System 12 noon. Winners will be announced by Shaun.

Tuesday 4th May Final critique 9.30 start pin up - As always - do start preparations for the final presentation, submission - this includes printed matter, models, posters (A3 this time - see studynet also for previous emails and other info) - you need to be in AB146 setting up first thing Tuesday morning. Pinning up, models in place, A3 document etc.. Allow time to prepare how you are showing your ideas - order of digital presentation, is there clarity even if the project is not known to the audience? Explain well, learn to speak and present through your own visuals.

getting ready

preparing for final critique 4th May

In today's lecture I talked about the importance of process, and the awareness of the different stages of process. I suggested you 'cut up' the process into a series of 'polaroids', using key images or text to act as a reminder of that particular stage of the process. This is a simple yet effective way of reflecting on previous work and its relevance. Clarity is gained for the editing process and you can start moving to the final stages, adding the last 'polaroid' to the collection..

There are some images from the lecture on studynet to go with your own notes from this morning.

Back in studio

beth maori dance inspiration

A couple of weeks seem a long time away and all of a sudden, spring has sprung. Now there is a new urgency, energy and focus - the project work is being polished, evaluated and reflected upon.

Tutorials took place on Monday 19th April. This, I feel, overall, was a very good session. A lot of thinking and reflecting had taken place over the holiday, clearly, together with development of new work. I also noticed, and discussed with many, how easy it can be to lose track of what one is working on, if that regular focus is not maintained throughout the absence from studio. Regular feedback, discussion and sharing news and ideas with others is so very important for anyone working on new concepts, projects, solutions..

Thursday 22nd April will continue to form part of preparations for submission. There will be a session in the morning with an over view of requirements, what to think about and how best to get ready for the final critique and submission. The date for this is Tuesday 4th May. This will be confirmed via studynet.

Please make sure that you read all briefs for all projects and parts of projects and that you fully understand all requirements and deadlines. Also, please remember the deadline for 2DES0064 is 29th April. You know this.. but no harm with a little reminder here and there..
